Demographics - mostly males in their 30s working full-time in a metro centre, distributed between states/territories similarly to the relative populations
Most would recommend their training position
Most consider @ANZCA training program relevant
Most understand training requirements and have opportunities to meet them
Teaching is generally of good quality, though 12% do not find the online modules useful
#ANZCAtrainees have much greater access to simulation teaching than other trainees - all trainees rate simulation teaching highly
Significant # of trainees feel exams don’t always reflect curriculum, communication could be improved, exams not always conducted fairly
Most trainees didn't receive useful feedback on exam performance
Almost 1/3 trainees didn't receive support from @ANZCA when needed
Most have protected study time, though disappointing that 8% don’t
Most have access conferences, courses, and research opportunities - would like these to be closer to 100% too
Senior staff are supportive
Workplaces support wellbeing and most support a good work-life balance
More than 1/5 do not have a good work-life balance
Average working hours are reasonable
Almost 1/2 trainees not always paid for unrostered overtime
Unrostered overtime has overall negative impact on training (even if it sometimes provides more training opportunities)
Workload & overtime negatively impact wellbeing
1/4 concerned that they will not complete training program
Most are concerned about being able to secure employment after training
Many don't feel that @ANZCA seeks their views on the training program
Most feel represented by trainees on College committees
Unsurprisingly, #COVID19 has had many negative impacts on trainees - particularly in terms of teaching, examinations and training opportunities
1/4 have training progression delayed due to exams & 1/4 due to training reqs (likely overlap in these groups)
