We’ve sent our joint #MarchBudget proposals to @hmtreasury along with 26 other #NeverMoreNeeded partners. The charity sector is facing an unprecedented emergency situation. Here’s what we’ve asked from Govt 👇 (Read the full submission here https://bit.ly/3nRjrdr ).
The sector has outlined a number of short, medium and longer-term measures that will help our #NeverMoreNeeded sector to carry on providing vital services & support to those who desperately need it. We’re asking for 👉
A renewed package of dedicated support measures for the sector. This money should be released rapidly and received swiftly so that it can be put to use immediately. This sits alongside our ask to implement the #NeverMoreNeeded Five Point Economic Plan. Namely to...
Extend the CJRS: The extension until April 2021 is a massive help but if lockdown continues & fundraising etc is still impacted, we would want to see a further extension or package of support.
We want to see Govt boost Britain’s amazing generosity by increasing Gift Aid to 25% for 2 years. Charities could claim £133 on a £100 donation rather than £125. It would be worth £450m to charities, encourage more giving and help plug the funding gap. #GiftAidRelief
PLUS! We want money locked away in unused accounts released so it can be used for public good. Unlocking dormant assets to set up a Community Wealth Fund & releasing The National Fund will help #NeverMoreNeeded charities. #CommunityWealthFund
We call on Govt to ensure the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, replacing EU funding, is distributed effectively to help level up. Charities must play a pivotal role in the pilot schemes and the future identification of need.
We want Govt to increase local government funding. Councils face huge pressures now – the pandemic has cost them around £4.8bn so far. They came into the pandemic on the back foot; central government funding has been slashed by almost half in ten years.
