It was built by Romans in 70 AD,in what's today Guildhall Yard

Lunden=Londinium at the time.

At 1st,it wasn't made out of Stone, but by Wood!!

It was renovated to "rag-stone Stone walls and a tiled entrance"(heritage) in 2nd Century,then the Games began!

The Amphitheater sat 6,000 PEOPLE!

Its "arena was used for public events, animal fighting, public executions, and of course, gladiatorial combat."(Historic)

Though it was fun & games, Romans left Londinium in 4th Century & dismantled Amphitheater to ruins.

For many centuries after Romans left Briton, the Lunden #Amphitheater lay in ruins.

Eventually, it became populated by "timber houses of a Viking trade settlement."(Historic)

As more houses populated around it, it became a Guildhall, a meeting place of a Guild.

Today, The Lunden Amphitheatre is a Protected Landmark & you can visit it.

In fact, if you're in Guildhall Yard & look down to the Black curved line, you're staring at the edge of the ARENA that was.

Its remains are 8 meters below ground due to Weathering..

Though The #Amphitheatre is 8 meters down, you still can visit it by going to the Guildhall Art Gallery.

"Inside you'll see the remains of the original walls, the drainage system, & even sand which was once used to soak up the blood from wounded Gladiators."(Historic).
