Watching my very first Hallmarky Christmas movie. Y’all
The small town the rich girl is going to in order to prove to her father (somehow) that she can handle running the family business is called Snow Falls. *Snow. flippin. Falls.* Because Christmastonville was too on the nose?
Our fish out of water protagonist is named Ellie London. Not to be confused with Kayleigh Fancyplace.
She is cute clashing with a local guy who is wearing flannel and camouflage simultaneously, as one does.
They’re in a diner and someone apparently paid to play “Silent Night” on the jukebox. Which is *so* Snow Falls, lol
Our romantic heroine freaks out that an animal was in her bed, but the country boy came to show her it was just a gurgling hot water bottle. Girls from the city are so stupid, apparently
Her city boyfriend is such a mover and shaker. He wears a tie and talks on his cell phone a lot and his name is — naturally — Gray
His name is Gray, you guys
We are learning why the country boy has such a hard exterior and is so gruff. His heart was broken before — by a city girl! But Paris Londontown can win him over by ________. If you guessed “baking,” you’ve seen more of these things than I have.
Andie Macdowell is in this movie, which makes me really concerned for Andie Macdowell’s financial situation.
There’s a huge snow storm that has trapped people in the town. Who could have seen such a thing coming in Snow Falls?
It’s like when that hurricane caught off guard all the residents of Hurricaneburg
The town’s had a lot of economic trouble recently, which is odd since everybody dresses like they just walked out of an LL Bean, and I feel this movie is trying to juggle a lot
Our heroine “catches” country boy sketching reindeer — he’s artistic! — after which he self-deprecatingly claims to just be a doodler. She says, “You should really do something with these.” Because as a city girl, she knows the market for reindeer sketches is mad lucrative
Vienna Londonbridge is now baking goodies with Andie Macdowell to impress country boy and they keep laughing with each other, because baking is hilarious
Guys, guys. GUYS. The sheriff’s name is Paul Greenleaf.
Gray has arrived just as Ellie Britishname is hugging country boy. The tension is really building.
Later, she says to country boy, “I’m sorry about Gray. He doesn’t mean to be rude; it’s just kind of the way he is.”
Gray won’t eat one of her cookies. “You know I don’t do sugar.” These city guys and their jerky health consciousness. Meh
This thing really bogged down in the last third, but you will be glad to know that Ellie Britaingirl wins the country boy’s heart, saves the town, saves Christmas, and I think brokers a truce between the Crips and Bloods
It ends with a third(!) playing of “Silent Night,” which is really a lot to be honest, and the lovers dance to it and have their first kiss. “Silent Night” is so slow jam silky
