// THREAD \\\\ Two young WRs have been a favorite target of mine this offseason. Both are still viewed as underrated, though both are starting to gain some buzz. I fully believe these two are being drafted at their ADP FLOOR right now. Let’s talk about:
Terry McLaurin and DJ Chark.

TERRY MCLAURIN(F1):
2019
14 games started
58-919-7 on 93 targets
15.8 Y/R, 62.4% CatchRate
60.0% Contested CatchRt (#5 in the league w 20 Cont.Tgts)
Missed week 4 (hamstring strain, mild) and week 17 (concussion). Was on pace for 1000+ season in his first NFL season

Main question marks for F1:
New Coaching Staff (OC Scott Turner, HC Ron Rivera)
Dwayne Haskins: can he improve in year 2?
Upside:
Bonafide WR1 (main competition is Steven Sims Jr)
STurner pass-happy offense
Finished as PPR WR25 in 2019 (13.7 fppg)

STurner had a small sample size as OC for Carolina (weeks 14-17). He averaged 44.25 passes in his 4 games. I don’t expect WAS to pass this much, but can safely project 38 att/gm.
Turner’s WR1 was targeted an average of 8 tgt/gm (pace of 128).
F1 should safely hit this number.

F1’s floor:
110 targets - 65 rec - 1001 yards - 6 TDs - 15.4 y/r - 59% CtRt — WR29
This would be F1’s absolute floor. He was on pace to surpass these numbers his rookie season. Even if Haskins doesn’t take a step forward, F1 should certainly surpass these projections.

F1’s Ceiling:
132 targets - 81 rec - 1263 yards - 8 TDs - 15.6 y/r - 61% CtRt — WR7
McLaurin’s upside is why he’s one of my favorite targets. He can be had for WR25 value, but has true WR1 upside in year 2/moving forward.
See how he compares to DJ Moore https://www.dynastyvipers.com/terry-mclaurin-player-profile

DJ CHARK:
2019
15 games (14 started)
73-1008-8 on 118 targets
13.8 Y/R, 61.9% CatchRate
Missed Week 15 due to an ankle sprain.
Measures as a true WR1, with main competition being Laviska Shenault, Dede Westbrook, and Chris Conley. Chark should easily lead this group.

Main question marks:
New OC (Jay Gruden)
Addition of Laviska, Return of Conley/Dede
Minshew Year 2
Upside:
Minshew Year 2
Jay Gruden as OC + positive talk on Chark
Likely high passing volume given horrible defense

What has Jay Gruden said about Chark?
“He’s got the skill set with size, speed and ability to come in/out of cuts.. I’d like to get him inside and do more things w him in the slot. He’s an excellent specimen... he’s hungry.”
Gruden has (+) history with the slot (Crowder).

Are we concerned about Minshew?
Chark splits 2019:
Minshew: 93 Tgts - 8.9 y/t - 62.4% CtRt - 37.6% first down rate - 5 TDs
Foles: 25 Tgts - 7.4 y/t - 60.0% CtRt - 28.0% FDR - 3 TDs
No. We are not.

AJ Green’s targets in Years 1-3 with Jay Gruden as OC:
2011 - 115 (ADalton’s rookie year)
2012 - 164
2013 - 177
It’s hard to say if Chark will see a 30% target share as AJG saw in 2012 and 2013. But I love his chances to see 24% (~129 projected).

CHARK FLOOR:
120 Tgt - 74 rec - 1025 RecYds - 7 TDs — WR21
CHARK CEILING:
134 Tgt - 84 rec - 1159 RecYds - 8 TDs — WR8
With consistent QB play and improved play calling from Jay Gruden, Chark has a chance at hitting his ceiling in the near future.

I’m projecting both of these young WRs to far-outproduce their current ADPs. They are both 100% “Buys” in Dynasty right now.
McLaurin — ADP WR27, Overall 61.
Floor: WR29. Ceiling: WR7.
Trust me, I’m buying the Ceiling.

In Redraft for 2020, I am a strong proponent of RB/RB or even RB/RB/RB.
If you wait to grab WR until round 4/5, you should feel very comfortable taking McLaurin and/or Chark as either your WR1 or WR2. They will not disappoint!
Once again, if you made it this far I just want to thank you for taking the time to read my work!
I truly hope you enjoyed it as much as you’ll enjoy this beautiful work of art that is Terry McLaurin’s route running.
Great work @RyderM25 ! https://twitter.com/ryderm25/status/1291804807838093312
