#1 is Mail-in ballot conspiracies - domestic and amplified by foreign actors. This is killing our democracy during the pandemic. Kremlin outlets are running wild with it already. https://www.fpri.org/fie/mail-in-ballots-kremlin-election-integrity/
#2 is health concerns regarding the candidates. Had to update this morning as seen by 'Stroke' trending on Twitter, and Herman Cain sadly passing away. Devastating lines of disinfo during the pandemic.
#3 uncertainty about outcome on election night...that ritual where we watch the news as states turn red & blue, that's not likely to happen this time.
#4 - Armed mobilizations to polling places...I was worried about this in 2016, I never would have imagined 2020. The armed mobilizations are out of control right now. Add a heated election that's amplified by conspiracies of vote rigging.
#5 - Cyberattacks on election day aside from voting machines & voter rolls - can kick off unprecedented disinfo. Iowa Caucus & GA primaries were strong warnings, and polling places look to be short staffed in key locations due to COVID-19
#6 - 'Post Terminum' chaos - Period between Election Day & inauguration day gives me shivers. Regardless who wins, this feels like a period of sustained iterative disinformation from at home and abroad
#7 - president loses the popular vote but again wins the election. Not disinformation as an event, but will likely kick off numerous conspiracies.
Lastly, no reason to think only 1 scenario will happen, I'd expect several of them. Let's help are fellow citizens get through this by sharing accurate information, & let's support our local, state and federal officials and institutions that are trying to preserve our democracy
